Project Description

ShutterSea is an open-source, decentralized version of Unsplash, where photographers creators from all around can share their images in a freely usable way. Users would be able to download free stock photos which can be used without attribution even for commercial use. Photographers get exposure as their photos are shared more.

Photos are stores in IPFS and metadata is stored in decentralized databases. Identity is also handlers in decentralized manner.

How it's Made

Uploaded images are converted in to multiple sizes and uploaded to IPFS (using web3.storage)

CID of images, along with the metadata (including EXIF data parsed) are stored in textile ThreadDB

Ceramic IDX is used for identity.

IDX is also used as authorization mechanism to manage data in ThreadDB, as all changes made by authors are signed using their private key.
